PRESIDENT’S Message

Presidents letter – 2026

It is an honor to have been elected President of ASFA on March 21, 2026. In advance of the election, the Alternate Slate devoted significant effort to understanding the challenges facing ASFA and developing practical approaches to address them. Many valuable ideas were also shared at the ACOD, and I have sought to incorporate that input. The next two years will be both active and important for the organization.

Throughout the campaign, I emphasized transparency, engagement, and service. These principles will guide my work and that of the Board as we strengthen and revitalize ASFA.

We need to change our thinking from we can’t do that to how can we get it done.

Progress depends on open communication between the Board and the fancy. We are committed to sharing information about Board activities and listening carefully to input. While we may not always achieve consensus and mistakes will occur, we welcome constructive feedback and accountability. To support this openness, we will publish dates and access links for quarterly virtual Board meetings, which will be open to observers, and we will hold Town Hall meetings to gather direct input from members.

As we move forward, the Board will focus on ASFA’s most significant challenges and on developing durable, thoughtful solutions. All actions will be taken in accordance with the Constitution and Running Rules, which exist to ensure sound decision-making and consideration of broader organizational impact. These governing documents will guide our work, not hinder progress.

We will not be afraid to try new ideas, and get rid of ones that do not bring benefit.

I look forward to working together in service of the ASFA community.

Phil Fullam
President, ASFA
